Residents of the Sirisia Constituency in Bungoma County have protested in the streets over the detention of their representative in parliament, John Waluke.

The indignant locals stated Wednesday morning that Waluke was once being persecuted by way of the authorities due to the fact of his political allegiance.

“The new authorities ought to now not persecute our MP. 70% of the voters in Sirisia voted for this administration. Our Member of Parliament was a successful businessman; the investigation is a witch hunt.

The locals held their protests and blocked the Lwakhakha-Sirisia Road with rocks.

On October 6, the High Court gave MP Waluke a 67-year jail term.

He turned himself up to the Milimani Law Court on October 7.

The National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) accuses Waluke of defrauding it of Ksh. 313 million.
