Samuel Njoroge Appointed Clerk of the National Assembly

Samuel Njoroge, the new House Clerk, was formerly the Director of Legislative and Procedural Services.

As of August 2022, Ms. Serah Kioko, the deputy clerk, has served as the acting clerk. Mr. Njoroge succeeds her as the seventh clerk of the National Assembly

Njoroge was appointed the clerk by a deeply divided House, that forced Members to vote manually, with Njoroge garnering 162 votes against 94 who opposed his appointment.

During the debate, there was evidently a deep rift between National Assembly members as some of them openly jeered Eldas MP Adan Keynan, who is also a commissioner with the parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).
