Image Courtesy of KRU The national mens 15s team, Simba, as from Monday, have been in residential training for the Final RWC Qualifiers set for November 6th running through to 18th. The Repecharge Tournament will be held in Dubai, UAE. The 37 man squad will on Saturday, 22nd October, play an internal training match at the RFUEA as part of their preparation for the international showpiece. Team Green Team Red The squad is without playmakers Dominic Coulson and Andrew Matoka who will also miss the qualifiers due to academic commitments. The training match will see Team Red take on Team Green with kick-off scheduled for 1230hrs. The match is open to the public. Kenya Simbas missed out on direct qualifications after finishing in second place, behind Namibia, in the Rugby Africa Cup. Kenya will face the USA Eagles, Hong Kong and Portugal in a bid to secure the final RWC slot.

In Western Region, a preseason tournament has been birthed and will take center stage in preseason preparation for all KRU affiliated teams from Western Kenya. The tournament format is as illustrated below, The Victoria Cup Tournament Format Games from the Quarter finals stage will be staged at the brand new facility in Kisumu City, Mamboleo Stadium, under the Floodlights. The Victoria Cup is set to kick off on the 22nd of October and will run for 4 consecutive weeks with the final being played on the 12th of November, 2022. This tournament is pit to uplift rugby clubs in the region by having them take on each other, improving competition levels of the participant teams and thus exposing many players to the nati

If things are to stay as they are, new regulations will see Shujaa take part in a relegation playoff tournament that will decide the last of the 12 core sides of the Series going forward. Shujaa are 12points from 11th position and only 11 points behind 12 placed Spain. This is now a race against time to amerce points in the last two legs to guarantee survival. The winner of any leg in the HSBC Series gets 22points with the runner up getting 19, 3rd place gets 17, 4th place gets 15, 5th place gets 12 points and 6th gets 10. For Shujaa to survive they will need to finish 5th or higher in the last two legs to guarantee them maximum points accumulated and thus escape the relegation zone.
