Rugby Going Forward:The Fan Base

Image
This weekend has set precedent of what National rugby should elicit. Rugby in its ethos is a community game and the community backing is what proppels global clubs and franchises to success. The link to the society is what determines whether at the very minimum, you have home advantage.  Kabras Rugby Club played host to the Kenya Cup final in a sold-out thriller versus arch rivals KCB, after having an impressive run of wins with no defeats. Their home advantage is something to ride on and has been a strength of the club for a while now with clubs that have won in the forest countable on one hand.  Kabras branded itself with the community of Kakamega town and the county and western region at large. It is the pride of the region. What sets them aside is the fact that the players are local boys who have come up in the region and are how playing at the highest level. This aside, Kabras is within the community, it is within touching distance of their home fans. This help

The 2022/23 Kenya Cup Concludes.

Image
What a season this has been! Electrifying! Entertaining! and fan centric are the words I can find to define the 2022_23 Rugby season in Kenya as Champions Kabras cruised through the season undefeated.  The Kenya cup lived up to its billing by providing mouth-watering fixtures week in week out. The results of the final show it all. A closely contested league title between the big two clubs in the country at the moment.  The league was even tighter in the relegation fight as more that 6 teams were either tied on points or were a point from each other in the relegation zone. To guarantee yourself survival in the Kenya cup, a team has to gunner upwards of 15 points. This seems an easy fete however it is quite daunting to achieve. This is the fact as MMUST, and Fellow university students, Mean Machine failed to retain Kenya Cup status, and will take part in next seasons KRU Championship.  Seasoned Kenya Cup survivors Blak Blad made a quick escape from the drop zone by handing la

What are Memes?

Image
A meme is a cultural piece of media that is shared online, often with the intention of invoking certain emotions, such as being humorous. Memes are most often images or videos, but can be just text on its own or other forms of media as well. memes are spread rapidly by internet users, and most often with slight variation to suit a certain audience. In recent times, with smartphones becoming affordable and accessible, online content has become the main form of entertainment across generations. Memes have played a major role in entertaining the masses for close to a decade.  Meme lords/ Meme queens are the new entertainers especially via WhatsApp status, Instagram stories and Facebook stories. These individuals have been able to gather large masses by showcasing pieces of media, that is, pictures, videos and text that have been captioned to elicit humor from viewers. Richard Dawkins coined the word "meme" in his 1976 bestseller The Selfish Gene and is thus seen to b

NAIROBI CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.

So there is this lady I met in a club in Kimabu, we enjoyed the night and later I did what I did unfortunately.... So after like 1 month as we continued talking, the lady claimed she's seriously ill and like a gentleman, i saw it fit to send her some money to cushion the cost. We'd talk via video call at this stage, and every time I'd call, I'd see she's indeed in a hospital setting even sometimes seeing the doctor's white lab coat. This went on for like 2 months. I decided I  should go pay her a visit in hospital since it appeared to be a serious illness that someone is hospitalised for two months. I prepared myself and set a date to head over to diaspora, Rongai. Mark you for the two months, I have been going an extra mile for my sick friend and paid her rent without fail. As I was about to get on the Rongai Nganyaz, I called the lady and inquired for the specific hospital she was admitted at so as to avoid looking lost when i get to diaspora. The call went

Where Exactly Did Christmas Originate from?

Image
Christmas, which is observed on December 25, is a holy religious event as well as a global cultural and economic event. People have been celebrating it with customs and rituals that are both religious and secular in nature for two millennia now. Christmas Day is marked by Christians as the anniversary of the birth of their spiritual figurehead, Jesus of Nazareth, whose teachings serve as the foundation of their faith. Popular traditions include gifting, erecting and decorating Christmas trees, going to church, gathering with loved ones for feasts, and, of course, waiting for Santa Claus. The origins of Christmas stem from both the pagan and Roman cultures. The Romans actually celebrated two holidays in the month of December. The first was Saturnalia, which was a two-week festival honoring their god of agriculture Saturn. On December 25th, they celebrated the birth of Mithra, their sun god. Both celebrations were raucous, drunken parties. In order to dispel the darkness, the pagan cultu
